If you are thinking of looking for pool tables for sale you will soon find there are plenty available; both new and used. In fact, if you are more of a casual player you may want to stick to a used one as they are much cheaper and usually in fairly good condition. They are great fun to have in a family room and they will provide hours of fun of an evening or during a rainy weekend.
The first decision is whether to go with a new or a second-hand pool table. You will probably want to see what is available and compare their specs before making a decision. Decide on the color, what it should be made from, how much you are willing to spend and anything else that you would like the table to have.
If buying a second-hand pool table, you will want to be fairly cautious, depending on where you buy it from. While family pool tables, especially those that have not had a lot of use, are often in near brand-new condition those from pool halls or community halls can be sometimes fairly well used. Try it out before handing over money for it.
Other things to check is that the table is well balanced and that the surface is smooth and does not have any bumps in it. If it has cloth on the top, look for small rips or tears. If you are not sure what to look for take along an expert with you; they should be able to spot anything wrong right away.
In order to save money, try to see if the person you are buying it from will give you the cue sticks and the pool balls as well. Even stores will often throw those into your purchase as a part of the deal, and it does help save some money. Even a used table is considerably more than, for example, a portable tennis ball machine, so it is good to save as much as you can.
